Who We Are

     The Strelitz Early Childhood Center preschool and Hebrew Academy of Tidewater Konikoff Center of Learning have served the educational needs of Hampton Roads families for a combined total of more than 80 years. Today, students who walk through our doors on the Sandler Family Campus receive even greater advantages, from the new facility and its advanced technology to its head of school, Zena Herod, who has more than 25 years of experience working in the world of independent school education.

     But there’s more to our program than the strength of our history, outstanding curriculum and dedicated faculty. It’s about who our students become by the time they graduate. They are confident, prepared, bright students...they also fully understand that none of this holds true meaning without the spirit and ethics that they are infused with throughout their years here. Our educational programs shape the moral fiber and values of our children who depend on these character traits for a lifetime.

     It’s not surprising that our graduates are well prepared to meet the challenges of the modern world as evidenced by their acceptance into some of the best private and public school programs around. They’re also accepted into the most well-respected colleges and universities in this country and abroad, including Brandeis, Cornell, Duke, Harvard and many more.
